MAIL-IN REGISTRATION FOR ANY EVENT AT THE RETREAT IS OVER. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH, WAS OUR CUTOFF DATE. THERE WILL BE NO MORE REGISTRATION FOR FOOD-RELATED EVENTS. SAME-DAY ON-SITE REGISTRATION, WITH REQUIRED REGISTRATION FEE, WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THOSE ATTENDING ONLY THE SATURDAY DAYTIME SESSIONS, INCLUDING CANDIDATES WISHING TO INTRODUCE THEMSELVES TO THE AUDIENCE. THE CUTOFF DATE FOR AD SUBMISSION HAS PASSED.
RESERVATIONS AT THE INN WILL BE CONTINUED AT THE BLOCK PRICE WHILE ROOMS ARE AVAILABLE. DUE TO THE INN’S NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS, THE FREE DVCF BREAKFAST WITH ROOM RESERVATION AND PAID DVCF REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLY TO THOSE WITH RESERVATIONS BY THE END OF MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH.
Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida: On February 16, 2018, Democratic veterans and veteran advocates from all over Florida will converge on the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida for the 2018 Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida Retreat. The Retreat, which begins on February 16, 2018 and runs through February 18, 2018, will bring together Caucus members, Democratic Veterans, veteran advocates, Democratic elected officials and Democratic candidates from throughout Florida.
The Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida (DVCF) is a chartered organization under the Florida Democratic Party (FDP), formed to advocate for the special concerns of Veterans and their families in the political process. The mission of the organization is to promote the election of Democratic Veterans or veteran advocates and encourage the participation of Democratic Veterans in the election process at all levels, from voter to elected official.
The three-day event will include a welcome reception Friday evening, strategizing for battle in the 2018 elections on Saturday, as well as a dinner Saturday night. Additional meetings may be held Sunday morning. Ron Armstead, the Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust in Washington, D.C., has committed to be Keynote Speaker at the Saturday night dinner,
“The Retreat is designed to be a learning and growing experience for the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida,” says Phil Giorno, DVCF President. “We are looking forward to this event. This is an important opportunity for collaboration between the DVCF and its local DVCF County Caucuses. We have had the pleasure of working with some members of the County Caucuses, and can’t wait to meet and work alongside more members from all over Florida. I am sure that we all can gain a great deal of knowledge from each other to bring back to our counties,” he said.
This Retreat is open to all Democrats and especially veterans and their families. The cutoff for our room block with the Inn was February 1st, but they will continue to honor our block price as availability of rooms allows.
